2021 June – Week 24

This week was a whirlwind filled with friends— both old and new— work, exhaustion, frustration, and good times. In a word: life.

Sunday

6/13/2021

Popped over to Amanda’s family’s garage sale on Sunday, not expecting to have to help load up and bring donations to MUCC, but happy to lend a hand and converse with peeps I adore.

Monday

Plus, Chris gave me this sign for my classroom, which makes me LOL.

Tuesday

6/15/2021

Isabella graced me with her presence again… but this time she brought me kitties in her ridiculous cat stroller, and I’m always here for kittens.

Wednesday

6/16/2021

I’m also here for spotting spotted fawns on my walk with Allie. Do you see what I see?

Thursday

There are worse ways to spend the work day than taking kids to the park for some beach volleyball and Taboo under a pavilion. Props to my coworkers who also actually engaged with the kids. Not everyone does that. I loved seeing Sperber, Tomaino, and Miller playing games with the students and enjoying themselves while doing so.

Friday

While I was happy to spend some time at a lake house with Ashley and co. for her bachelorette weekend, I was a little iffy about spending three nights with them. I knew some of the people a little; I didn’t know all of them. And four days away from home right before the last week of school felt like a somewhat big ask. But I’m actually really glad I went up with Ashley and Caitlin Thursday night. Caitlin is good people and the three of us had a truly lovely, peaceful evening.

Friday morning, Caitlin and I were up around 6:00. We cozied up with some blankets in the screen room, talked, and sipped our coffees until Ashley joined us. After we breakfasted, we kayaked together and chatted some more. Then the other peeps started rolling in and the vibe shifted. It went from peaceful mode to party mode and we got in some good old fashioned day drinking, with Stephen egging us on.

Saturday

The debauchery continued well into Saturday, but by the evening we were ready to appreciate the sunset and gather round a campfire. Sometimes nature stuns you into silence and revery.
