I hate to deprive everyone of my usual color commentary, but this girl has to finish packing and get some sleep before I EMBARK tomorrow…
So for now I’ll just say: This was the first full week of summer vacation, and I tried to make sure I was living my best life of leisure.
Sunday
I went tubing down the West Canada Creek with Chris, his girlfriend, Aung, and some other MUCCsters (kids from the community center).
Monday
I spent as much time as possible with Bailey Boo.
Tuesday
I kayaked Snowbird Lake with my mom (and, as always, sang Just Around the Riverbend while doing so). We saw and heard the loons, jumped in the lake, and watched a Canadian Goose try to hide from us in the tall reeds.
Wednesday
On the last day of June, the weather finally broke with a torrential downpour and hail. It cooled things down to a bearable temperature for the rest of the week.
Thursday
Got loud and giggly with these lovely peeps on Thursday night. Did Jessica try to “sneak” (this is in quotes because she was less than stealth) sips of wine from her glass when Allie drove us to get more wood? Yes, because she’s definitely still a college student and not an adult pushing 40.
Friday
I got to see Fishes twice in one day! And I totally whipped her ass at Rummy. 1035 to 525. Not that the score matters hehe.
Saturday
On Saturday, I tried to spend a little time with my mom in her gardens. She was picking berries and discovered this nest in the bushes. She got all excited to show me, and it reminded me of when I was a little girl and she took me on nature walks around the yard. Sometimes a simple life is beautiful.
