Our first full week of school was rather long. It was by no means a bad week, but it felt like a lot of days. A lot of full days. I’m still adjusting to the schedule. Actually, it’s not so much the schedule I’m adjusting to, but the whole being on thing. Teachers have to flip a switch and turn on Teacher Mode, and that can take a lot out of a person.
Sunday
Started the week with a Morrisville soccer game. I’m trying to see as many of Aung’s games as I can, since this is his final year. He played well, and he made captain! I’m really proud of the kid.
Monday
September blueberries?? Sweet!
Tuesday
One of the reasons this week was so full was because I found out Monday around 2:00 that I’m coaching the modified girls soccer team with Coop. Practice began at 2:30.
But this is a happy development, especially since they’re not splitting the team in two. Coop and I got on the same page almost immediately. I think we’ll make a good team.
Meanwhile, my mom HATES the goals I have sitting in my backyard collecting vines and spiders, but I love them. They’re my contribution to the landscape decor.
Wednesday
I love my backyard mint, too. I wish I could figure out how to grow it inside during the winter, because I like a good, hot, mint tea on cool fall evenings and cold winter nights, but at least the plants in the yard survive. A big thank you to Robin Azzarito for that.
Thursday
When you get your eyebrows waxed, and the woman decides you shouldn’t have differently shaped brows (That’s what I was born with! I happen to like them!), and goes very aggressively at one side, leaving it shorter than it should be… and also uses overly hot wax that burns you, you have two choices:
Cry, bitch, and try to use make up to make them look decent… OR decide this is a funny, though painful, anecdote to share and and laugh about with friends. I’m glad I have friends that appreciate my sense of humor.
Friday
The wedding festivities officially began on Friday with a backyard BBQ rehearsal dinner, and some drinkies at Bagg’s Square Brewery. I loved spending more time with Caitlyn and fake flirting with Stavoosh (spelling? It’s Steven in Polish) Laski.
Saturday
Speaking of full days… I had the first hair and makeup slot because Ash needed volunteers to go early. I got in the hair chair at 8:00 AM. Pictures were at 3:00 PM. In between, I helped ready things, edit Ashley’s vows, and edit Caitlyn’s speech. The ceremony started at 3:30 (It was lovely), followed by more pictures and a little cocktail hour… followed by the reception, which concluded at 10:30 with a sparkler send-off and fireworks. Then it was on to Nostro for the after-party. I was home around 1:30 in the morning with Taco Bell in hand and a deep desire to sleep for four days.
But honestly? It was a great time.
